The Spiceworks Collection Agent is the same and used for Spiceworks Inventory Online (device inventory, software inventory) and the Spiceworks Connectivity Dashboard. Don't get irritated by reading Spiceworks Connectivity Dashboard in that reference. Here is a non-beta documentation for installing the Linux client. But the Linux client is no longer in state beta. The principle is still correct and the same. I found one at here but it is tested on Ubuntu 16 as written in the doc and also not working on Ubuntu 20.04. And there exist more options than those already proposed by Craig. Reality is partially worse than reported so far. Reality is partially better than you found and that got already reported.
